King Edward VI Grammar School Chelmsford

Parents' Association

The Parents’ Association has been in existence for over 50 years and became a registered charity in 1994.  It exists to promote links between the parents and the school whilst enhancing the facilities of the school by raising funds. As a parent of a child at KEGS, you are automatically a member of the Association.  We have a committee made up of volunteers; parents like you who give their time to organise and plan activities with the active support of the Headteacher and his staff. The committee organises a number of fund raising events during the year; these events afford an important opportunity for you to meet other parents as well as enjoying yourselves.

With the passing of each school year, the Parents’ Association loses active members as their sons and daughters leave KEGS. It is vital therefore for new members to get involved. You can do this in several ways, whichever suits your lifestyle.  You can:-

  • Join the Committee
  • Help out at an event
  • Join our ‘Tea Team’ and help serve refreshments
  • Join our ‘Cake Makers’ providing cakes for the Fayres
  • Join MIDAS, the KEGS PA Lottery
  • Help out on the stationery stall
  • Donate raffle prizes or unwanted gifts
  • Support our fundraising events
  • Shop online – http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/kegschelmsford- every purchase made raises additional funds for KEGS.
  • Matching donations – many employers subscribe to matching donation schemes for the benefit of registered charities. If you give a little of your time at one of our events, then you may be able to claim a matching donation from your employer.

If you would like to find out more, why not come along to any of our committee meetings. We meet once or twice a term from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Alternatively speak to any of our members at one of our events.
